Apple Increases iPhone 3G App Downloads to 20MB
It looks like Apple is already getting ready for future iPad applications. They recently increased the maximum size of downloads from 10MB to 20MB over a 3G connection. Previously if you wanted an app that exceeded the 10MB limit you had to switch over to Wi-Fi connection in order to download it.
The initial limits were put in place because of the strain large app downloads caused to AT&T’s 3G network. Despite ongoing issues with AT&T, Apple signed another deal to beef up the network to get ready for the upcoming iPad. AT&T also enabled Sling Player 3G streaming on their network last week. This is an early sign that the network feels comfortable with the enhancements they put in place. The true test will come with the release of the iPad and we will know then if the network has indeed improved.
