Google+ includes several exciting features including social circles, hangouts and a handy search feature.  With this release comes some new hangout features for Android users.  Google already has mobile apps available for iPhone, Android, Windows and BlackBerry.  There will no doubt be a large influx of Google+ users following today’s news, time will tell if its just another fad or here to stay.

ASafeDrive is priced at just $.99 and features a stunning digital speedometer display.  If you’re thinking this may be a big distraction its important to note that this application is made for the car dock.  Previously the speed limit function was only available for the Los Angeles area but new version 3.0 can access speed limits worldwide.  There is also a customizable warnings feature that will alert you when you go over the current speed limit.  You may not think ASafeDrive is necessary but you will certainly feel more comfortable knowing the current speed limit at all times.

Street Fighter IV for the iPhone comes with four levels of difficulty and plenty of good old fashioned combo attack moves.  You can play as eight different Street Fighter players (Abel, Blanka, Chun Li, Ryu, M. Bison, Dhalsim, Guile, and Ken).  There are also seven different gaming environments each with its own unique style.  New players will love the new ‘dojo’ mode that features five in-depth training sessions.  Don’t like the way the controls are laid out?  No problem, you can easily customize the controls to your style of play.  Street Fighter IV is available now in the iTunes App Store for $9.99.

With TigerText you can set time limits on every text you send.  Once the time is up the message will be deleted on your phone and the recipient’s phone so your tracks are covered.  In order for this to work your recipients must also have TigerText installed on their device.  The app comes with a free trial which lets you send 100 messages on them.  After that you will need to sign up for an account and pay a monthly fee for sent messages.

Of course this type of application brings up a whole bunch of different issues.  Some may call it shady but it’s actually a good way to protect yourself.  Just think how many athletes or celebrities sent revealing text messages to their significant other only to have it backfire on them.  Clearly this app isn’t for everybody and it will be interesting to see just how long it last sin the App Store.  TigerText will also be available for the BlackBerry and the Android in the near future.

When Popcap games announced their popular computer game ‘Plants vs. Zombies’ was coming to the iPhone we had a feeling it would be a success.  The game series already had a huge following but once it hit the App Store it reached a whole new level.

The addictive tower defense game reached the #1 spot within 24hrs of its release to the App Store.  Popcap has already sold 300,000+ units in just nine days, this is an App Store record.  These sales generated over $1 million in revenue for the game company that is also behind the Bejeweled game series.  It appears that this is just the beginning as the game remained in the top spot until yesterday and has a host of positive reviews.

In Plants vs.  Zombies you have to use strategy to fight off hoards of angry zombies from attacking your home.  Your only defense is an arsenal of 49 zombie killing plants.  In all there are 50 adventure filled levels to conquer and 26 different types of zombies.  Plants vs. Zombies is available now in the App Store for $2.99.

RedEye has the ability to communicate with your TV, DVD, stereo and an assortment of other devices.  Once you have it there is no need to have two or three extra controls lying around.  This one system will replace everything and best of all it’s right on your iPhone.

Once you download the free RedEye app from the iTunes store and have successfully set up the additional hardware you ready for use.  Your iPhone will then communicate with various devices via Wi-Fi using the infrared technology.  The touch controls respond almost immediately and best of all the custom screen layouts let you access your favorite devices with a click of a button.  RedEye also uses multi-touch controls and gives you the ability to control different rooms no matter where you are in your house.

Even though the app is free you’ll need to spend $188 for the hardware system.  This is comparable to other similar universal remote control systems the difference here is that it uses your iPhone or iPod.  RedEye will also be available for the iPad and the makers of this application are giving away an iPad if you refer a friend to their product.  While the price might still be a little steep RedEye is still an intriguing application system that will give you full control of your home entertainment system.  For more info on the complete system, check out ThinkFlood’s website.

It’s time to put those Astronaut skills to test with your iPhone.  NASA has released its first ever iPhone game that lets you play around on the moon.  The NASA Lunar Electric Rover (LER) Simulator comes with pretty basic controls but don’t be fooled as one wrong move could cost you.  You’ll need to pay attention to your power consumption as you navigate around this lunar landscape.  NASA wants you have a good time with this and they even added some pretty funny comments should you crash.

NASA’S LER Simulator app is free and includes an interactive gallery with 14 images of various Lunar Electric Rovers.  It also gives you chance to check out certain facts about each and you can really learn how they operate.  There are also multiple difficulty levels so you can really put your skills to test when you get the hang of things.  So go grab your space suit, strap in and enjoy the ride.

The initial limits were put in place because of the strain large app downloads caused to AT&T’s 3G network.  Despite ongoing issues with AT&T, Apple signed another deal to beef up the network to get ready for the upcoming iPad.  AT&T also enabled Sling Player 3G streaming on their network last week.  This is an early sign that the network feels comfortable with the enhancements they put in place.  The true test will come with the release of the iPad and we will know then if the network has indeed improved.
